1 dead, 5 trailers burn in San Bernardino motorhome fire

One person was killed and five trailers burned in a motorhome fire on Friday morning in the city of San Bernardino, officials say.

San Bernardino County Fire responded to a 5:44 a.m. call reporting a fire in the 2600 block of Pacific Street.

The department said additional callers believed someone may have been inside one of the trailers on fire.

Crews arrived and found three travel trailers up in flames, with the fire spreading to adjacent units.

The department said firefighters mounted an aggressive attack, ultimately bringing the fire under control about 15 minutes after their arrival.

During a search by rescuers, an adult man was found dead in one of the trailers.

No other injuries were reported.

In total, five trailers were impacted by the fire with damage ranging from partial to complete loss, authorities said.

Fire officials said the trailers at this location are part of the Home Key Program, a county program which provides temporary housing to individuals previously experiencing homelessness within our communities.

“Residents displaced by the incident are receiving support including behavioral health, medical care, emergency housing placement, senior services, case management and food from a host of county agencies,” said SBC Fire. “Vouchers will also be provided to replace clothing and personal items.”

Officials say the cause of this fire is still under investigation.
