Police asked for two weeks’ detention for the 17-year-old after a man in his 40s was beaten up by a group of youths in the city center on Saturday night.
– We believe there is a risk of new criminal offences, says police attorney Lene Skeistrand in the Sørøst police district NRK.
Another 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl have also been charged in the case, but were released after being questioned by police on Sunday.
– The police take a serious view of incidents where violence is perpetrated in public spaces. The report that came in to the police appeared to be a dramatic incident where several people exercised violence against one person, says the police attorney.
The man in his 40s was sent to hospital with head injuries after the violent incident, but he was not critically injured.
