On Monday, the hospital had reviewed 6,316 letters.
– It is worrying that the letters have not arrived. Fortunately, we see that many patients are still taken care of through other communication, says hospital director Grethe Aasved in one press release.
On 6 March, it became known that 16,438 letters from the hospital had not reached the recipient. A group of ten medical specialists is now going through the letters.
Of the 16,438 letters, 9,294 letters will not be sent out because these are copies to GPs stating that the patient has been called to an appointment. According to the hospital, the GPs have asked not to send these now afterwards.
The remaining 7,144 letters will be sent out. For those patients where it appears that delayed referral may have had consequences for follow-up, an individual assessment of the need for measures will be made immediately, St. Olav’s hospital informs.
