One year ago, 20-year-old Hamse Hashi Adan was shot and killed at Lofsrud school in Mortensrud in Oslo. The police have long encouraged the accused pair of brothers to come forward.
Assistance lawyer Catharina Cecilie Gjesti says on Tuesday afternoon NRK and VG that one of the two brothers, Valon Avdyli (36), is on his way to Norway after over a year on the run.
– It is very good that there is a development in the case, and that we may progress in the criminal case. The bereaved have been informed of this today. I hope that the other brother comes forward and is arrested too, she says to NRK.
The man’s defender, lawyer Svein Holden, will not comment on the case to VG. The information has not yet been confirmed by the police.
After Adan was shot and killed, the two accused brothers fled the country. The last reliable observation is when the brothers, then 35 and 32 years old, landed in Kosovo’s capital Pristina two days after the murder. They are both charged with murder or complicity in murder.
According to VG’s information, only the oldest of the brothers has been taken. According to the newspaper, he will be arrested by the Norwegian police on Tuesday afternoon.
A third man is still charged with complicity in the murder, but he was released from custody this summer.
The police have called a press conference about the case on Tuesday at 5.30 pm.
