On Tuesday, the Spaniard Albert Capellas was fired in Midtjylland, and according to Extra Magazine should Høgmo be very close to becoming the club’s new coach. It was Herning Folkeblad who first reported that he was a candidate for the job.
Høgmo has been very successful as a coach for Swedish Häcken, and last year the club won the Allsvenskan for the first time. In January, he extended his contract until 2024, but now the veteran could be heading for a change of club. Recently he took Häcken to the semi-finals of the cup.
Høgmo has previously been manager of the Norwegian national team and coached Tromsø, Rosenborg and Fredrikstad in Norwegian football.
Next weekend, Vålerenga will face Häcken in a training match in Gothenburg. With or without Høgmo on the sidelines.
