YEREVAN – In the clashes that broke out during protests near the government building in the capital of Armenia, 34 people were injured, including 16 policemen and 18 civilians, the Ministry of Health of that country announced.
“In the clashes near the Government building, according to preliminary data, 34 people were injured, of which 16 were policemen, 18 were civilians,” the statement said.
It is added that 17 of them received the necessary medical care and were released for home treatment, Armenia Aysor agency reports.
Those gathered at today’s protest in Yerevan demanded that the Armenian authorities take concrete steps regarding the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, first of all, the recognition of the independence of that area in Azerbaijan.
Citizens worried about the situation in the Azerbaijani region, which is mostly populated by Armenians, blocked all the entrances to the Republic Square in the center of Yerevan, Tanjug reports.
