Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in L.A.’s Koreatown neighborhood.
Early Wednesday morning at around 6 a.m., the pedestrian was walking westbound on Western Avenue at 7th Street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle.
The suspect was driving a blue or light gray 2004-2006 Acura MDX SUV, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
After the crash, the driver sped away and never stopped to check on the injured pedestrian.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity was not released.
The suspect was last seen driving northbound on Western Avenue near 4th Street. Their vehicle is believed to have damage on the front right-hand passenger side, police said.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” said LAPD.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s apprehension, and conviction.
