To NRK says Vestre that he is open to the fact that people with smaller assets should perhaps get tax relief.
– The Labor Party in government has indeed increased the bottom deduction in wealth tax. We are absolutely willing to look at whether the minimum deduction should also be increased in the next period, he says.
The minimum deduction is the amount of wealth you can have without wealth tax kicking in. Today, the limit is NOK 1.7 million. Vestre will not be specific about how much this deduction should be increased.
– We must return to that in future budgets. We are concerned that the tax system should be redistributive. We are not bound to one or the other solution, says Vestre.
In 2022, 623,000 people paid wealth tax in Norway.
