There he met his Romanian colleague Angel Tîlvăr to talk about, among other things, the security situation in the region, the Ministry of Defense states in a press release.
– Romania is an important cooperation partner that takes great responsibility on behalf of Western cooperation to strengthen our overall support for Ukraine, says Gram.
During the visit, the Minister of Defense spoke to both allied and Norwegian personnel who work to train Ukrainian soldiers. He also visited the air base where Romania is building up its F-16 squadron with aircraft bought from Norway.
– The sale of the F-16 will strengthen and modernize the defense of Romania, which has an important role as an ally on the eastern flank in NATO. It is positive that material the Norwegian Armed Forces no longer use itself can continue to provide defense capability for allies.
Gram was on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, where he held meetings with, among others, the Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Further support for Ukraine was on the agenda. Gram also visited defense industry companies in Odesa.
