It was at the end of April that Gjert Ingebrigtsen was prosecuted for abuse in close relationships. The indictment concerns violence, threats and coercion against one of his children in the period 2018 to 2022.
The athletics coach has always denied criminal guilt.
Five cases were dismissed on the basis of the evidence, while one was dismissed due to time-barredness.
At the end of May, it became known that four of the cases were appealed, and the state attorney decided that the case involving Jakob Ingebrigtsen should be investigated further.
On 23 October, the police announced that they had finished their investigation. The evidence and a recommendation were sent to the Rogaland State Attorney’s Office for assessment.
The case against the trainer’s father Gjert Ingebrigtsen began to unfold after the brothers Henrik, Filip and Jakob Ingebrigtsen wrote a column in VG in which they claimed that their father used violence and threats as part of their upbringing.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen has constantly refuted the allegations.
It is not known when the case will appear in court.

These are the main points in the case in which the athletics coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen is accused of abuse in close relationships:
* 19 October 2023: In a VG chronicle, Henrik, Filip and Jakob Ingebrigtsen claim that their father used violence and threats as part of their upbringing. Gjert Ingebrigtsen refutes the claims.
* 26 October: The police open an investigation into Gjert Ingebrigtsen on the basis of the allegations in the aforementioned chronicle. On the same day, it becomes clear that the athletics coach has been reported by a family member.
* 29 April 2024: Gjert Ingebrigtsens is prosecuted for violating section 282 of the Criminal Code, which applies to abuse in close relationships, against one of the victims in the case. At the same time, the police drop six other cases. Five cases were dismissed on the basis of the evidence, while one was dismissed due to time-barredness.
* 31 May: Four of the cases are appealed, and the state attorney decides that one of them, in which Jakob Ingebrigtsen is a party, should be investigated further. Afterwards, Jakob Ingebrigtsen has been in new police interviews.
* 23 October: The police state that they have finished their investigation into the case and have sent the evidence to the public prosecutor. The case will come before the court in 2025 at the earliest.
* 29 November: The indictment is extended to include mistreatment of Jakob Ingebrigtsen. This is confirmed by legal aid lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen to Aftenposten.
