A source told NBC News that Weinstein is undergoing treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York.

Weinstein is due to be retried on two sex charges stemming from his landmark #MeToo case after New York’s highest court overturned his 2020 conviction earlier this year.

The 72-year-old was also convicted in 2022 of raping a woman in Los Angeles, though his lawyers have appealed.

In that case, Weinstein was found guilty of rape, forced oral copulation and another sexual misconduct count involving a woman known as Jane Doe 1.

The jury was unable to decide on several other counts, including charges involving Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
