Storm Track 3 Forecast: Record highs and storms Thursday, a cooler turn Friday

Winds made the switch with our recent “cool” front out of the northeast.  This kept us comfortable all day.  Overnight, winds turn back out of the south-southeast.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Record highs and storms Thursday, a cooler turn Friday

A sprinkle or shower cannot be ruled out over Southeast Kansas into early Thursday morning, aided by this wind shift.

Record highs in parts of Kansas could be in jeopardy on Thursday.  Another “cool” front is coming into town.

Temps will spike ahead of this feature with the hottest temps around the Wichita Metro.  The ICT is in line for having a new record high tomorrow while pushing nearly 90 degrees.

Winds will also increase and pose a high fire danger for much of the region.  Winds will gust from 30-45 MPH.

During Thursday evening, storms will fire up over Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. This will build back to the southwest, following the Turnpike and trying to reach the Wichita area.

Depending on how quickly the front surges south, we might have a quick shot for a shower or a storm.  The progressive nature of the front does not linger long, sweeping the moisture away early Thursday night.  Temperatures will cool to the 60s and 70s Friday into Saturday.  Friday morning a touch of frost is possible to the northwest.

Saturday morning, more frost is possible across northern Kansas.  On Sunday, the wind flow will increase, building from the south.  Temps will warm back to the 80s by Monday.  More record high temps could be in jeopardy.  Also, fire danger will be elevated next Monday and Tuesday. Winds during this stretch will gust from 30 to more than 50 MPH!  Winds will also be sustained ahead of the next cold front around 30 MPH!

Rain and storms look to form ahead of this front Tuesday into Wednesday with another shot for moisture by the end of next week. The pattern may turn more unsettled by the start of November.
