Baldwin Park man in custody for fatal shooting in Whittier – Whittier Daily News

A Baldwin Park man was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 22, on suspicion of fatally shooting another man near a Whittier motel earlier in the day.

Whittier police believe the shooting was gang-related, police spokeswoman Officer Emily Armstrong said.

However, investigators still don’t know the motive for the slaying.

Police received a call of a man down in the 11400 block of Whittier Boulevard around 6:45 a.m. He later died at a hospital.

The medical examiner’s office had not yet publicly identified the victim.

A dark-colored sedan seen leaving the area led to the suspect, Armstrong said. Martin Trevizo, 31, was taken into custody in Hawaiian Gardens nearly five hours after the shooting, she said, adding officers also found his car. They didn’t find a firearm.

Trevizo was booked on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon, she said.

As of Wednesday, he was being held at Whittier jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
