Two injured in car versus buggy crash in southeast Kansas

PARSONS, Kan. (KSNF) — Two people riding in a horse and buggy were seriously injured after a crash with another vehicle Thursday morning near Parsons in southeast Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a horse and buggy were eastbound on U400 near mile marker 389 and were “halfway in the outside lane and shoulder” when they were struck in the rear by a 2023 Ford Escape also heading eastbound in the outside lane around 8:15 a.m.

A 35-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were in the buggy and had serious injuries. They are both from Cherryvale. They were taken to Labette County Health in Parsons.

The 27-year-old driver of the Ford Escape was not injured.

There is no information on the horse.
