Family says man killed, buried in backyard of Riverside home had 'heart of gold'

Family members of a man found slain and buried earlier this month in the backyard of a Riverside home are speaking out to honor his memory.

“Bradley Minder was the gentlest soul to ever walk this earth. He was a kind friend and a deeply loyal son, brother and uncle,” a statement by family members read. “His family meant more to him than anything in the world. He forgave easily and treated everyone with pure, unadulterated love, and he was a natural protector with a heart of gold.”

The Riverside Police Department shared the family’s statement on Thursday, about a week after the 31-year-old’s body was found in the backyard of his home on the 8700 block of Sylvan Drive in the Arlanza neighborhood.

Investigators say Minder’s roommate, 48-year-old Richard Martinez, killed him during an altercation and then buried his body in the backyard. No details regarding the nature of the dispute have been released.

Martinez was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder in connection with Minder’s death.

Police say Minder’s family could use help covering the costs of funeral arrangements and travel expenses from Kansas to California for his mother and other family members.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family.
