GCCC Football must forfeit first 6 games of the season

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Garden City Community College must forfeit the first six games of the football season.

The football team, which had been off to a 6-1 start on the season, is now 0-7. It’s due to an ineligible player that they self-reported to the NJCAA.

First and foremost, we completed a thorough eligibility check on the student-athlete in question prior to the start of the season. All processes and procedures were followed to the letter of the law by the standards set forth by the NJCAA. However, it was discovered that information was not disclosed to Garden City Community College. Once we were made aware of the situation, our athletic department immediately contacted the national office.

Director of Athletics, Mike Pilosof

So far this year, the Broncbusters have beaten Dodge City, Coffeyville, Ellsworth, Community Christian, Independence, and Butler but must vacate all those victories.

They will finish out the remainder of their schedule. Their next game is at home Saturday against Iowa Western.

Kick-off is at 11 a.m.
