The snow fell in Tromsdalen during the match, which was stopped after just over a quarter of an hour of play to make the pitch playable. Almost immediately after the match was restarted, Jerv abused a huge opportunity.
Just after the break, however, the southern club got a payoff. Tromsdalen’s Isak Vik sent the ball straight to opponent Peter Wilson in the box, and Jerv’s Swedish-Iberian striker gave the away team the lead.
Wilson had an opportunity to double the lead on a penalty kick five minutes before the end, but the attempt from Jerv’s top scorer was saved by Tromsdalen goalkeeper Theodor Nilsen.
The second leg will be played on Saturday 9 November in Grimstad, on Jerv’s home ground. There it becomes clear who will meet the team that ends up in 14th place in the 1st division.
It will be either Mjøndalen or Levanger, who are fighting to avoid direct relegation and seize the qualification place in the 1st division.
The last and decisive matches for the last place in next year’s 1st division will be played on 16 and 24 November.
