Video posted to the Citizen App shows a thick plume of smoke rising from the structure as concerned onlookers began gathering in the street. Firefighters were seen fighting the fire – which appeared to have started in a second-floor hallway – through the roof.

The blaze, which extended from the second to the third floor, was knocked down just before noon, fire officials confirmed.

“There are multiple units involved in the fire, [but] the number of displaced residents is unknown at this time,” LAFD said in their latest update. “One patient – who jumped from the second floor – is being assessed and their condition is unknown.”

Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
