Temperatures will be slower to cool tonight as winds increase and skies become more cloud-filled. In a departure from the chill of the past few nights, we will hold onto the 60s in Wichita!
The winds will be whipping by sunrise and only get stronger through the day. Gusts from 35 to 45 mph will be commonplace, with a few gusts to 50 possible.
This will promote high fire danger tomorrow. A Fire Weather Warning covers much of Kansas from noon to 8pm tomorrow.
Highs will be warm, expected to reach well into the 80s and even approach 90s in a few spots.
This is expected to meet or exceed many record highs across Kansas.
The wind may get even stronger on Tuesday, with gusts over 50 becoming more widespread.
Temperatures will drop rapidly on Wednesday as a cold front slides in from the west.
This may bring a few isolated showers and storms to northwest Kansas Tuesday evening.
The bulk of the moisture is expected to come together Wednesday across central to eastern Kansas.
Some of the storms may be able to become severe, especially for areas along and east of the turnpike.
Halloween looks mostly dry, but then the moisture comes back and we expect many more chances of rain to come by next weekend as a very favorable setup for widespread rain sets up.
