Do not burn anything the next couple of days. Conditions will be ripe for any grassfires to get out of control. Fire Weather Warnings will be in effect today and Fire Weather Watches will be in effect for Tuesday.
Temperatures will be well above the norm to start the new week. Similar to last week, record highs will be in jeopardy.
Winds will be gusty. A Wind Advisory will be in effect today through Tuesday due to gusts getting up to 50 to 55 mph.
There is a system approaching from the west. You will notice more cloud cover before it arrives.
Winds will continue to be strong Tuesday. A High Wind Watch will be in effect due to gusts reaching 60 mph.
Rain and thunderstorm chances return late Tuesday. Showers and storms will be possible mainly in Northwest Kansas Tuesday evening.
Chances will spread into Southwest and Central Kansas through the night.
Please be sure to have the volume on your phones on so you will hear weather alerts if there is a severe thunderstorm warning. Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible.
As a front pushes east, showers and storms will move in the same direction as we head into Wednesday. There will still be a few showers to the west too.
We will need to continue to be weather aware Wednesday. The greatest risk for a few strong to severe storms will be around and east of the turnpike.
Most of the stormy activity will move out late Wednesday night, just in time for trick-or-treaters. The second half of the week will be cooler and there will be more rain and thunderstorm chances by the weekend.
