Before the weekend, the company put forward an offer of a 38 per cent pay rise spread over the next four years. The offer was put to a first vote among 33,000 unionized employees, and 59 percent voted in favor.
The trade union International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) originally asked for a 40 percent wage increase over three years and the reintroduction of a pension scheme that was put on hold in 2014.
The first offer from the company was 25 per cent, and the week before the offer, which has now been accepted, the employees said no to an offer of a 35 per cent higher salary.
