The Democrat and the Republican received three votes each in the small village in the north-east of the state of New Hampshire in the USA.
Dixville Notch has for many years been the first to open its polling station at midnight local time – many hours before the rest of the country.
This year, too, the election took place in the middle of the night with a group of journalists present and to the tunes of the US national anthem performed on an accordion.
All the village’s residents voted for the Democrats in 2020 Joe Bidenreportedly only the second presidential candidate to receive unanimous support in Dixville Notch since 1960.
In January this year collected Donald Trumps challenger in the primary election, Nikki Haley, surprisingly a unanimous victory in Dixville Notch. Haley eventually threw in the towel in meeting Trump, and Tuesday’s election shows that three voters chose to vote for Kamala Harris.
The even result reflects a very close race in national opinion polls ahead of Tuesday’s presidential election.
