The New York Knicks were very busy this summer and are now poised to be one of the best teams in the East in the upcoming season.

But one addition was bigger than the rest, according to Kendrick Perkins.

Perkins appeared on ESPN Tuesday morning and said adding Mikal Bridges was a very smart and beneficial move for New York.

“[Bridges] could be what Jrue Holiday is for the Boston Celtics,” Perkins said, calling Bridges an All-Star caliber player who will fit perfectly in the rotation.

Perkins knows that Bridges can create a lot of points for the Knicks

Just last season, he averaged 19.6 points per game with the Brooklyn Nets.

However, two seasons ago, he was putting up 26.1 points, showing he has a very high ceiling.

More importantly, Perkins thinks Bridges is a very supportive and beneficial player on both ends of the court.

Like Holiday, he won’t just score, he will defend too.

There are many reasons to think Bridges will do well in New York, most notably that he used to play with Jalen Brunson and others when they all attended Villanova.

Like Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo, he could be a great addition who fits in magically.

Bridges might not be the flashiest, most well-known star in the NBA but he could be on the verge of the most exciting chapter of his young NBA career.

If he is anything like Holiday with the Celtics, the Knicks will be that much scarier and competitive in the 2024-25 season.
