The New York Jets have a reason for optimism after the lost season that was their 2023 campaign.

After starting the 2024 NFL season with a road loss to the San Francisco 49ers, they got their first win with Aaron Rodgers under center by downing the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, and their next two games, against the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, are very winnable.

However, star C.J. Mosley has been dealing with a toe injury, but according to insider Rich Cimini of ESPN, the linebacker will “do everything he can to play” against New England on “Thursday Night Football.”

Mosley is part of a very talented front seven for the Jets that is struggling a bit, and therefore they would sorely miss him if he’s unable to play.

He is one of the longest-tenured members of the team, as he arrived prior to the 2019 season and made the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career in 2022.

Through two games this season, he has 12 total tackles (10 solo).

New York was expected by many to be one of the NFL’s best defensive teams this season, but so far rank just 24th in total yards allowed and tied for 25th in points allowed.

Even if quarterback Aaron Rodgers finds some semblance of his past excellence following last year’s Achilles tear, the Jets will need to rely largely on their defense if they are to seriously contend in a crowded and competitive AFC.
