After signing with the Atlanta Falcons following a solid stint with the Minnesota Vikings, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins was hoping for a fresh start, especially after suffering an Achilles injury last season that ended his time as the starting quarterback for his former team.

With Cousins coming off such a severe injury this late in his career, there was no telling what kind of player he’d be with the Falcons to start the 2024 NFL regular season.

Unfortunately for the 36-year-old, Cousins didn’t look good in his Falcons debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Many believed he couldn’t move the same way in the pocket, with the consensus being that he had finally gotten too old and no longer had the mobility to make his team competitive.

That narrative changed quickly in Week 2 as Cousins led the Falcons on a game-winning drive to shock the Philadelphia Eagles in one of the most challenging environments to play, especially under the bright lights of “Monday Night Football.”

Former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick recently chimed in on Cousins’ impressive late-game performance against the Eagles and what it means for the team going forward.

“I think it solidified who Kirk Cousins really is,” Vick said on “Up & Adams.” “He’s truly a reliable quarterback, understands the game and knows how to play the game at a high level.”

Even though Cousins kept the critics at bay with the unlikely win, he won’t have much time to catch his breath, with the Falcons hosting the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3 on “Sunday Night Football.”

Although the Chiefs have had issues of their own in the first two weeks, they’ll be a tough challenge for Cousins and another measuring stick game for the Falcons.
