2024 was supposed to be different for the Carolina Panthers.
After having the worst record in the league last year, many expected the Panthers to take a step forward, albeit not a massive one.
While there was some initial optimism that Bryce Young could turn things around, his first two games of the season did not inspire confidence.
As a result, the Panthers decided to take a look inward, and while it was a tough decision, they benched Young for their upcoming Week 3 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
This isn’t a great sign for the former No. 1 overall pick.
Some fans and analysts have stated that the Panthers should get rid of Young, trying to get some semblance of value for the young QB.
However, not everyone feels this way.
Baker Mayfield recently used his platform to talk positively about Young in a press conference.
As shared by Ari Meirov on X, Mayfield said, “His story is far, far from finished.”

Mayfield was supposed to be the answer to the Cleveland Browns’ prayers, but that journey didn’t turn out well for him.
He has found a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading them to a 2-0 start to the season.
A fresh start might be what’s best for Young, allowing him to begin a new life in a new organization.
Stranger things have happened, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Young thrive in another system, assuming he does get moved.
Mayfield has been in this exact position in the past, and is seemingly trying to make sure Young feels he is not alone.
