The Dallas Cowboys have long been considered “America’s Team.”

With that label comes outsized expectations, near-constant media scrutiny, and endless drama.

Jerry Jones added more drama this past offseason when he initially refused to pay receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott more money.

Of course, as expected, Jones caved and paid both his stars.

Then, after looking unbeatable in a Week 1 victory at Cleveland, the Cowboys looked extremely mortal in an unexpected loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.

Dallas is in danger of losing its second consecutive game on Sunday when the winless Baltimore Ravens come to town, looking for an upset.

That can’t happen, says former NBA star Paul Pierce.

“This game can make or break their season,” said Pierce during a segment for “Speak,” a show on FS1 that he co-hosts. “If they lose this game and they get ran over again, the defensive confidence is going to be gone and I don’t see how you can get it back.”

After Week 2, Dallas is seventh in the NFL in points for but is near the bottom of the pack in points against (30th).

Baltimore isn’t much better with a 15th-ranked offense and 28th-ranked defense.

Should the Cowboys lose against the Ravens, their long-suffering fans may start to get cranky and Jones will once again be on the defensive regarding his underperforming team.

At some point, the organization will have to step up, says Pierce.

“At some point, the Dallas Cowboys have to take a stand, just for their own psyche,” said Pierce. “You just can’t have teams come in here and do what they want.”
