De Rossi was sacked by Roma after a string of disappointing results in the Italian league
He said Roma Club Serie A club AC Milan said on Sunday that its chief executive Lina Solocco had resigned following fan anger over the sacking of coach Daniele De Rossi last Wednesday.
“We thank Lina for her dedicated service during a critical period for the club and wish her well in her future endeavours,” Roma said in a short statement on its website.
Italian media reported that police were assessing whether Soloko needed to beef up security after a threatening banner appeared at the club’s training ground.
The Greek sports lawyer bore the brunt of the fans’ anger over De Rossi’s sacking as coach of the team after a four-game winless streak in the Italian league this season.
Protests have been held by the “Wolves” fans in recent days after the sudden dismissal of Daniele De Rossi.
At the Trigoria sports training centre during the night, a banner appeared with a message from the team’s fans that read: “Daniele De Rossi is the sea of Rome, Lina is the evil of Rome.”
The banner was against the club’s CEO, Lina Soloko, who was appointed as the club’s CEO in April 2023 and is said to have been behind the dismissal. Jose Mourinho Then Daniele De Rossi, and that the differences between her and De Rossi cost him his dismissal from his position.
Reports indicated that there were disagreements between Lina Soloko and De Rossi regarding the transfer market, and it was rumoured that Soloko was reluctant to renew De Rossi’s contract until 2027 and was considering the possibility of appointing Raffaele Palladino, who was subsequently appointed as coach of Fiorentina.
De Rossi, who spent nearly two decades as a player at the Italian club, took over as coach in January after Jose Mourinho was sacked.
He was replaced by former Torino coach Ivan Juric, who will take charge when Roma host Udinese on Sunday.
Soloko was appointed in April 2023 by the American Friedkin family, owners of Roma. She was previously CEO of Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus.
