Several appeals were held during the commemoration, including by leader Marianne Solberg of the Community Organization (FO).
The strikers work in social services, child welfare, substance abuse and mental health. They work in the Salvation Army, the Norwegian Association of the Blind and businesses that operate in areas such as asylum, housing and care services, provided by companies such as Stendi and Hero.
They are organized in Fagforbundet, FO, Parat and Delta. The latter two are part of the main organization Yrkesorganisationenes Sentralforbund (YS).
The counterparty is the employers at NHO.
The employees believe that with its offer NHO is not fulfilling a promise to close the pay gap between businesses that provide similar welfare services.
– With this year’s offer from NHO, the distance to others doing the same job will increase. We know that those who are on strike now earn significantly less than others who do the same. The wage gap can be as much as NOK 50,000 a year, said leader Mette Nord of the Trade Union on Wednesday when the strike was stepped up.
