Earlier this week, it became clear that Nistelrooy will not be allowed to continue in United’s coaching staff, despite leading the club with great success in recent games.
The former Dutch top scorer took over the manager’s job at Old Trafford on a temporary basis when compatriot Erik ten Hag was sacked recently.
Now the Portuguese Ruben Amorim has been brought in, and he has his sights set on none other than Nistelrooy when the support apparatus is to be put together.
Since the news became known, there has been silence from the Dutchman. However, on Friday he posted a message on Instagram.
– To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, especially the staff, players and fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible effort and support you have given me, writes the former goal machine.
– It has been a privilege and an honor to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will forever take good care of the memories we have shared together.
Van Nistelrooy concludes by saying that United will always have a special place in his heart.
The Dutchman has been clear that he would like to stay.
