Ingvild Kjerkol considers suing the state – Dagsavisen

– The decision of the Joint Complaints Board creates great unpredictability for everyone who has studied at university and college level. It is also difficult for my clients to understand that the law can be as the Joint Complaints Board puts it as a basis. Now Kjerkol and the fellow student will assess whether this is a case the court should look into, writes Kjerkol’s lawyer Marianne Klausen in an email to the channel.

In April, Nord University reprimanded the then Minister of Health and Care for cheating in a master’s thesis she submitted with a fellow student in 2021. Kjerkol and the fellow student complained about the decision.

The joint appeals board heard the case on Wednesday 30 October, but would not make its decision public.

The answer came last Friday. The following evening, Kjerkol’s lawyer sent the conclusion of the decision to NTB, but not the complete decision. TV 2 has gained access to:

“The joint appeals board finds it proven that the complainant has deliberately cheated in connection with the submission of the master’s thesis”.

Kjerkol resigned as Minister of Health and Welfare on 12 April after Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre concluded that, after being caught for cheating, she did not have the necessary trust as a minister.
