Poland’s Prime Minister critical of German telephone diplomacy with Putin – Dagsavisen

– No one can stop Putin with phone calls. The attack last night, one of the biggest during this war, has proven that telephone diplomacy cannot replace real support from the entire West for Ukraine, writes Polish President Donald Tusk on X Sunday.

The announcement comes two days after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone.

Ukraine was hit by massive Russian airstrikes on several fronts on Sunday morning. Poland mobilized all the country’s forces and sent fighter jets on the wings.

The phone call has been heavily criticized by Ukraine, among others. Scholz has met the criticism that it was still worth the effort to talk to Putin in order to dispel any illusions he might have that the West’s support for Ukraine is about to disappear.
