In an incident that sparked controversy across social media sites An 11-year-old Emirati girl named Maryam Al Shehhi was bullied after participating in a children’s talent show.
The girl was bullied during filming by her fellow contestants and after the show was aired by her schoolmates.
The girl could not bear the abuse or the psychological shock she experienced, and she suffered a health problem as a result of which she was transferred to the hospital and remained in intensive care for a whole week, as was said on the pages, and the news was confirmed by one of her family members.
Maryam’s story caused a huge uproar and sparked a wave of sympathy and anger on social media.

For her part, “Rowan” wrote: “Oh God, I just saw her story.. The girl is sweet and amazing. May God keep her safe and make her family happy and make us happy with them. On the other hand, the entity responsible for broadcasting the program published an apology to Maryam and the Emirati community on social media, in which it affirmed its support for her and its rejection of all forms of bullying. One of the mothers participating in the program also apologized in a video clip that she published on social media.

Maryam’s story got activists talking about the idea of children participating in these programs.
