Kevin Oberlander resigned as football coach at Sonora, the school announced Wednesday.

Oberlander coached the Raiders for five seasons. They qualified for the playoffs the past three seasons. They were Freeway League co-champions with La Habra and Troy in 2023.

This season Sonora finished 7-5 overall. The Raiders tied with El Toro and Irvine for second place in the Iota League.

Sonora defeated Alemany of Mission Hills in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 9 playoffs and lost to Quartz Hill last week in the quarterfinals.

Sonora was 3-7 in 2019, the year before Oberlander became the head coach.

Oberlander remains at Sonora as a physical education teacher.
