– UiT Norway’s Arctic University has been made aware that a man who has been charged with attempted gross intelligence activities against state secrets has taken part in the collective bachelor’s study in security and preparedness, they write in a press release.
– UiT was not aware that the arrest was to take place and has also not received any information indicating that the arrest or the charge is linked to the fact that the person in question is a student at UiT.
The university refers the case to the police and public prosecutor’s office in general. VG mentioned the matter first.
It was on Wednesday that the man in his 20s was arrested, charged with gross intelligence activities against state secrets. On Thursday, he was remanded in custody for four weeks. He has acknowledged that he has collected and shared information with Russian and Iranian intelligence.
According to NTB’s information, the man is a co-owner of a guard company that has permission from a police district to supervise private or public areas, control services and escort services.
