Israel threatens to attack Beirut airport

A spokesman warned Israeli army Daniel Hagari stated that the army “will not allow any weapons to be transferred to… Hezbollah“, including “via Beirut International Airport.”

He said: “We will not allow the transfer of weapons to the Hezbollah group in any way. We know of the transfer of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah, and we will work to thwart it.”

Hagari continued: “Air Force planes are now patrolling the area Beirut Airport. Until now, Lebanon, unlike Syria, has acted responsibly over the years and has not allowed weapons to be transported through the civilian airport.

The spokesman added: “We announce that we will not allow enemy aircraft carrying weapons to land at the civilian airport in Beirut. This is a civilian airport for civilian use, and it must remain that way.”

On Friday, Israel launched violent strikes targeting buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut, which it said were being used by Hezbollah as headquarters or weapons depots.
