The meeting took place on Friday, and the parties discussed “the global security issues facing the alliance”, says spokeswoman Farah Dakhlallah.
The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported on Friday that the parties were to meet, and wrote that Rutte flew to Florida on a Dutch government plane.
Rutte, who was previously prime minister of the Netherlands, is considered one of the political leaders who came out the best with Trump last time he was president of the United States. He took over as NATO chief from Jens Stoltenberg at the beginning of November.
