The police in Hampshire in England say that a man died when a tree fell over the car he was sitting in on Saturday morning. In West Yorkshire, another man died in a road accident which police are now investigating as having been caused by the storm.
In Ireland, over 60,000 households were without electricity on Saturday morning as a result of storm Bert.
In the west of Ireland and in Northern Ireland, there are floods in several places after rivers have overflowed their banks in recent days. Several roads are closed, and many train and ferry departures are canceled on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Traffic at several ports and airports in Great Britain is also affected by the storm with rain, sleet and strong winds.
In Scotland, up to 40 cm of snow has been forecast in higher-lying areas, while flood warnings and snow and ice warnings have been issued for northern and central England.
In France, around 47,000 households are still without electricity on Saturday after storm Caetano ravaged parts of the country on Thursday. The power outages have, among other things, led to a halt in parts of train traffic in the western parts of the country.
