Barcelona still tops the table and has a gap of five points to Atlético Madrid in 2nd place. Third-placed Real Madrid have two games to go and are seven points behind their Catalan rivals.
It was Raphinha who scored the first goal of the game after Jules Koundé played him through with a lovely long pass, and after an hour of play Robert Lewandowski doubled the visitors’ lead.
But with just seven minutes left on the clock, tension returned when Marc Casadó fouled Ilaix Moriba and picked up his second yellow card.
Soon after, Iñigo Martínez scored an own goal, but the goal was disallowed as the ball had gone out of play.
Celta did not give up, and a minute later Alfon González intercepted the ball from Koundé and reduced it for Celta.
And they weren’t done there. Just two minutes later, Barcelona were completely undone when Hugo Álvarez equalized to make it 2-2.
The match was Gavi’s first start since the 20-year-old underwent surgery for the cruciate ligament injury he sustained in Spain’s European Championship qualifier against Georgia last year.
Gavi did, however, make six appearances after being on the sidelines for 348 days.
