Police are searching for the killer responsible for the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman in Long Beach on Friday.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded at about 11:42 a.m. to reports of a woman suffering from a gunshot wound in the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman, who had been shot in the upper body. She was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The woman was identified as Justice Lopez, 21, of Long Beach.
The suspect fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived. As of Saturday afternoon, there’s no description of the suspect available, and they remain at large.
Police said investigations have revealed that the attack was not believed to be random, though it wasn’t immediately clear how that determination was made.
