According to von der Leyen, this will be a new era of climate cooperation and financing.
– The EU will continue to lead and focus on supporting the most vulnerable, writes the head of the European Commission on the messaging service X.
At the meeting in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, a new target was agreed for rich countries’ contribution to emission reductions and climate adaptation in poor countries. The goal is at least 300 billion dollars per year by 2035.
According to von der Leyen, this will lead to new investments in the green shift and the development of resilience against climate change.
