Negotiations on the IA agreement continue after a meeting with Brenna – Dagsavisen

Negotiations on the IA agreement continue after a meeting with Brenna – Dagsavisen

The meeting in the Ministry of Labor and Inclusion on Monday morning came about after LO on the one hand and NHO, KS and Spekter on the other have publicly presented an ultimatum about how long they can accept a grace period for the sick pay scheme.

– There is great interest in reaching an agreement. There is a lot we agree on, but there is something that remains. The meeting ends for today, said Tonje Brenna when she met the press after the meeting had ended at 1.45pm.

The meetings continue on Tuesday, says Brenna.

Absence due to illness sharply increased

In June, it became clear that sickness absence for 2023 had increased by 17.5 per cent since 2018, completely contrary to the plans from the updated IA agreement.

This has triggered a discussion about the need to do something about the sick pay scheme, but there is controversy about how and when this should be done.

– The high level of sickness absence is a serious social problem with major consequences that requires comprehensive solutions, wrote NHO, KS and Spekter in a joint reader’s post in E24 Sunday.

Frede today’s arrangement

In another post in the same newspaper earlier in the day, LO leader Peggy Hessen Følsvik wrote that the parties are pretty much in agreement on the entire new IA agreement. Apart from the issue of sick pay.

– If the employers can, however, help secure the sick pay scheme for the next four years, then we are on target, Hessen wrote.
