The roof of a vacant commercial building in downtown Los Angeles was burned and collapsed early Monday morning.
Images from Sky5 showed the damage of the two-story building, that was located on the corner of Flower Street and Cameron Lane. It was first reported at about 4 a.m.
The L.A. Fire Department called the effort to put out the blaze a “defensive operation” as crews attempted to protect adjacent buildings.
Firefighters were on top of adjacent roofs, signifying that they were confident in the structure of those buildings.
Nearby traffic was expected to be affected by the blaze.
As of 5:40 a.m., no cause of the fire had been determined. The building had previously been abandoned.
No additional details were immediately made available.
