The UN asks Israel and Hezbollah to accept a ceasefire – Dagsavisen

– The situation in the region is still very serious, said Wennesland’s envoy Muhannad Hadi in the UN Security Council on Monday.

The Israeli attacks against targets in Israel continue unabated, as do Hezbollah’s rocket attacks against targets in Israel, Hadi stated.

– I welcome the ongoing diplomatic efforts to end hostilities and urge the parties to accept a ceasefire anchored in Security Council Resolution 1701, he said.

Resolution 1701 ended the war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006 and states that only the Lebanese government army and the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) will patrol the border area with Israel, not the Hezbollah militia.

Hezbollah must have agreed to the American sale, and the Israeli government’s security cabinet will, according to the newspaper Haaretz discuss it on Tuesday.
