Minecraft Player Discovers Adorable Interaction Between Allays and Foxes

Key Takeaways

  • Allays and Foxes are both attracted to items dropped by players and have their own unique behaviors in Minecraft.
  • Allays and Foxes interact in a strange way when offered the same item, resulting in the Fox being carried by the Allay.
  • This interaction may be patched out in the future as Mojang continues to update Minecraft with new mobs and interactions.

A Minecraft player has discovered that Allays can carry Foxes when a small item is offered to both mobs simultaneously. Minecraft mobs interact with each other in some strange ways, but this may be among the most bizarre occurrences.

Since Minecraft was released, Mojang has added many new mobs to the game, with some accompanied by a corresponding biome. The Warden was added with the Deep Dark in the Wild Update, the Hoglins and Piglins were introduced with the Nether Update, and Armadillos arrived in the Badlands after a Minecraft mob vote. While these mobs don’t typically interact much with each other, hostile mobs will attack each other under the right circumstances, Wolves will hunt passive animals like Rabbits and Sheep, and Cats will keep Creepers and Phantoms away. One gamer has discovered that Allays and Foxes will also interact when small items are offered to both mobs.

Reddit user Julioxd3667 recently shared a Minecraft clip in which they drop an Emerald near an Allay and a Fox. Both mobs immediately react to the nearby item, with the Fox reaching it first and picking it up with its mouth. As the Fox makes it to the Emerald just a split second before the Allay, the Allay still picks the item up, resulting in the Fox clipping through the ground at first. The Allay then flies a few blocks upward, carrying the Emerald with the Fox bizarrely attached to the bottom of it. As the Allay moves, the Fox stays completely still, making it appear stiff as a board, as many mobs are before they disappear and are replaced by glowing Minecraft XP orbs.

Minecraft Alloy and Foxes Offer Adorable Interaction

Given the clip concludes before either mob relinquishes the Emerald to the other, they may be perpetually connected by the rare Minecraft gem. Because Foxes have a 5% chance of carrying an Emerald when it spawns, this Emerald may have initially come from the Fox. Allays and Foxes are both attracted to items dropped by players, but Allays will follow a player and collect multiples of their carried items. While Allays can’t be tamed in a traditional sense, these items draw them to the player. Foxes can be tamed by feeding them Sweet Berries which will also cause two in the same area to breed. Allays can be found in Pillager Outposts and Woodland Mansions, while Foxes are located in Taiga biomes and the Grove.

As Mojang continues to update Minecraft, this method of attracting Allays and Foxes may be patched out in the future. There are also mobs like The Creaking which have been confirmed but haven’t been added to the game yet that may offer their own unique interactions.
