The G7 countries will comply with their respective obligations to the ICC – Dagsavisen

The foreign ministers of the G7, which consists of France, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy and Canada, have been meeting in Fiuggi in Italy for the past two days.

The United States has not joined the ICC and is thus not obliged to comply with the orders of the criminal court.

In a preliminary statement, the G7 countries say that they are committed to international law and will comply with their respective obligations.

– We emphasize that there cannot be equality between the terrorist group Hamas and the state of Israel, it also says.

Last week, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and late Hamas leader Mohammed al-Masri.

The arrest warrant concerns alleged war crimes. It is said, among other things, that there is good reason to believe that Netanyahu approved attacks against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
