The parties agreed on a new two-year agreement after spending Tuesday and Wednesday negotiating it.
Kristoffer Vatshaug refers to it as “a historically important agreement for Niso’s members”. He is a leader in the Norwegian Athletes’ Central Organization.
– It is particularly gratifying that we are promoting follow-up of mental health in the club, and that we are putting in place safer frameworks around pregnancy, maternity and the way back to work for the female athletes, says Vatshaug in a statement.
Niso has around 1,800 members divided between football, handball, ice hockey and individual sports. The new agreement applies to the three team sports. According to Vatshaug, the members’ input was important to include in the negotiations.
Among the news is that all employers who employ female athletes will be obliged to offer a follow-up plan for pregnancy and maternity.
Abelia is an association associated with NHO.
