A new tragedy… Israel’s attacks force thousands of Lebanese to flee

Tens of thousands of Lebanese also continue to flee from their areas in the south LebanonThis opens the door to a torrent of economic and humanitarian crises for the Lebanese government.

As if it needed more crises, Lebanon finds itself in the midst of a new crisis, headlined by the displaced people fleeing the horror of the Israeli strikes.

Strikes no longer targeted only the front lines, but also extended to include various areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut and the south of the capital, all the way to the interior areas of Bekaa Baalbek, and hundreds of thousands of people were displaced, who found themselves overnight on the ground, roads, and gardens, or at best, one of the shelters that the Lebanese government hastily provided.

Unprecedented scenes recorded the largest displacement of Lebanese from the southern regions, following the most violent wave of Israeli attacks since the 2006 war, and pushed about half a million people to flee the continuous raids, towards Beirut And Mount Lebanon, as well as Sidon and Akkar in the north.

While the Lebanese government announced the conversion of hundreds of schools into centers to shelter displaced people, amid strenuous efforts to provide basic food and medical needs, it found itself facing criticism related to the seriousness of its preparations and its lack of readiness to deal with an escalation that began nearly a full year ago.

In light of the continued Israeli targeting, Lebanon, which is already besieged by crises, will have to deal with new humanitarian and economic crises to accommodate these unprecedented numbers of displaced people.
