The past few years have not gone according to plan for the Denver Broncos.

Russell Wilson was supposed to come in and make everything right again for the team, but he couldn’t get the job done and left after two seasons.

They hired Sean Payton to help coach Wilson in his second season with the team, but even that didn’t help.

The Broncos came into the 2024 campaign with their sights set on making Bo Nix their starter.

Nix played extremely well during training camp and the preseason, and he more than earned the job.

However, after his early struggles and the team’s two losses to start the year, some people are wondering if changes need to be made.

In a recent installment of his show, Bomani Jones questioned whether Payton is actually a good coach, or if he just road on Drew Brees’ coattails.

Jones compared Payton to Bill Belichick, who struggled to perform once Tom Brady left the New England Patriots.

Both coaches were blessed to work with two of the best quarterbacks in league history, which they will always be remembered for.

But, in Payton’s case, if he’s unable to win more games in Denver, more and more questions will be asked about him and his coaching acumen.

He might have been viewed as a visionary at times in New Orleans, but he could be remembered as a goat in Denver, and not the good kind of goat.

This team has some work to do if they want to make a playoff run at the end of the season.
