Police have made an arrest in connection with the brutal beating of a West Hollywood valet that left the longtime Barney’s Beanery employee with critical injuries last month.
The unidentified male suspect is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Tuesday.
The valet, identified by the business as Frankie Zarazua, was punched to the ground and lost consciousness during the Sept. 14 attack. Zarazua was then kicked several times on the head and upper body before the suspect fled the scene.
Zarazua was taken to an intensive care unit after sustaining multiple injuries to his head, neck and body, Barney’s Beanery posted on Instagram after the incident.
Investigators released images of a suspect about a week after the attack. It was unclear if the person taken into custody was the same as the suspect in the photos.
The person who attacked Zarazua was also inked to several additional assaults that occurred that same evening, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Further details about the arrest and the suspect are expected to be shared during a morning news conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
A GoFundMe page was set up by Zarazua’s family after the attack to assist with medical expenses and bills.
